10,000 steps a day or 30 minutes of Japanese strolling? Harvard doctor explains which is better

Gastroenterologist Dr. Saurabh Sethi is in favour of the trending Japanese strolling method. “The Japanese have discovered a walking technique with more benefits than the traditional 10,000 steps. It is called interval walking, that is, alternating 3 minutes of slow walking with 3 minutes of brisk walking, like you are rushing to an important meeting. Do this for 30 minutes daily, and the results are impressive.”

He factors out that, when in comparison with the 10,000 steps a day, the IWT can enhance blood stress, cut back stroke danger, enhance temper, increase immunity and provide better sleep high quality. “Studies show that this method can improve cardiovascular health and fitness significantly,” he factors out.

“To start, walk at a comfortable pace for 3-5 minutes, then alternate slow and brisk walking. Finish with a 3-5 minute cool down. It is joint friendly, time efficient and very effective. Share this widely and follow for more,” the doctor suggests.
