The actress will be seen playing the role of former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi in the Meghna Gulzar directorial. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Fatima recently opened up about being compared with Kangana Ranaut, who will also be essaying the same role in her film, ‘Emergency‘.Talking about the same, Fatima said that while she is doing her role according to her script, Kangana is performing hers differently. She also added that if two actors are playing the same role, comparisons are bound to happen and there is nothing wrong with it. According to her, both approaches can be right. It’s all about the spirit of the character.
When asked if she has seen Kangana’s look from ‘Emergency’, Fatima added that she has seen it, and it was really good. The actress also said that everybody loved her look. In fact, there was not a single person who did not like her Indira Gandhi look. According to her, with the hair and makeup, it was too good and she looked like the former Prime Minister visually.
Spilling some beans about how she prepped up for the character in ‘Sam Bahadur’, Fatima shared that she read a lot about her. She added that while Kangana is playing Indira from the time when she was much older, she is playing her from the time before. According to her, Indira Gandhi’s journey is very interesting. She also added that people should talk more about freedom fighters, rulers and emperors as everyone should know what has happened in the country.
‘Sam Bahadur’ also stars Vicky Kaushal and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles. The film will hit the theatres on December 1. It will lock horns with the Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Animal’ at the box office.
