Maldives suspends 3 ministers over derogatory comment towards PM Modi

The Maldives authorities on Sunday suspended three of its ministers after they shared offensive remarks towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his Lakshadweep go to on social media, a Maldives spokesperson mentioned.

The choice to droop ministers Malsha Shareef, Mariyam Shiuna and Abdulla Mahzoom Majid from their posts comes after India raised the matter with the island nation at present.

Notably, Shiuna, had referred to as PM Modi a “clown” and “puppet” in now-deleted posts on X after the Prime Minister posted photos of his go to to Lakshadweep and pitched the island as a vacationer vacation spot for Indians. The tweets have been taken down after backlash on the micro-blogging website.

Other than Shiuna, different Maldives officers, together with MP Zahid Rameez, mocked Prime Minister Modi’s go to to Lakshadweep after the images gained huge consideration on social media, with many evaluating it to the Maldives.

The Maldives authorities has rejected the derogatory remarks towards Modi, stating that they don’t symbolize the views of the Maldivian authorities.
