A magnitude 5.7 earthquake struck the small city of Pahala on the Large Island of Hawaii on Friday (native time), the US Geological Survey (USGS) mentioned.

The quake, revised from an preliminary magnitude of 6.3, was at a depth of 36.85 kilometres, the USGS mentioned.

No tsunami was anticipated after the earthquake, the US Tsunami Warning Centre mentioned, including that some areas might need skilled sturdy shaking.
