The Nationwide Archives constructing and galleries have been evacuated on Wednesday afternoon after two protesters dumped pink powder on the protecting case across the US Structure.
The incident occurred round 2:30 pm, based on the Nationwide Archives. There was no harm to the Structure itself.
A video posted on the X social media platform exhibits two males lined in reddish-pink powder standing in entrance of the equally splattered horizontal glass case that homes the Structure.
“We’re decided to foment a rebel,” one man says. “All of us deserve clear air, water, meals and a livable local weather.”
Police then led the pair away.
“The Nationwide Archives Rotunda is the sanctuary for our nation’s founding paperwork. They’re right here for all Individuals to view and perceive the rules of our nation,” Archivist of the USA Colleen Shogan mentioned in a press release. “We take such vandalism very significantly and we’ll insist that the perpetrators be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the regulation,” he added.
The constructing is predicted to be open on Thursday.
