Sri Lanka’s left-arm spinner Praveen Jayawickrama has been banned from all types of cricket for a 12 months, of which “six months shall be suspended,” as per the ICC. The ban was imposed on Jayawickrama after he admitted breaching the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code. Jayawickrama admitted to being in breach of Article 2.4.7 of the Code, which offers with: “Obstructing or delaying any investigation that could be carried out by the ACU, together with concealing, tampering with, or destroying any documentation or different info that could be related to that investigation and/or that could be proof or might result in the invention of proof of corrupt conduct below the Anti-Corruption Code.”
Jayawickrama final represented Sri Lanka in 2022. He has featured for the Island nation in 5 Assessments, 5 ODIs, and 5 T20Is, with a complete of 32 worldwide wickets to his identify throughout these 15 matches, the ICC stated.
The costs relate to worldwide cricket and the Lanka Premier League. The ICC, in settlement with Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), acted in accordance with Articles 1.7.4.1 and 1.8.1 of the Anti-Corruption Code.
