NEW DELHI: An Indian-Russian working group on cooperation within the Northern Sea Route held its first assembly in New Delhi on Oct 10, the place it mentioned polar navigation and joint tasks in Arctic shipbuilding.
The heads of the working group are Rajesh Kumar Sinha, deputy minister of ports, delivery and waterways, from the Indian facet, and Vladimir Panov, Rosatom Particular Consultant for the Arctic Improvement, deputy chairman of the State Fee for the Arctic Improvement, from the Russian facet.
The assembly mentioned the targets of Indian-Russian cargo transit alongside the Northern Sea Route (NSR), joint tasks in Arctic shipbuilding, and attainable coaching of Indian sailors for polar navigation. The working group additionally drafted a memorandum of understanding between the Indian and Russian govts for the event of cooperation in cargo delivery within the waters of the NSR.

In 2018, the Russian govt appointed Rosatom the infrastructure operator of the NSR. Rosatom oversees the federal mission Improvement of the Northern Sea Route and participates within the implementation of the Northern Sea Route improvement plan till 2035 and the initiative for the socio-economic improvement of the Russian Federation till 2030 Yr-Spherical Northern Sea Route.
