NEW DELHI: The World Metal Affiliation (worldsteel), a worldwide organisation, introduced on Tuesday that Thachat Viswanath Narendran, the managing director and CEO of Tata Metal, has been elected as its chairman.
Narendran is the second Indian to carry this place, following JSW Group chairman Sajjan Jindal, who was elected as worldsteel Chairman in 2021.
The Brussels-based affiliation additionally said that Ugur Dalbeler from Colakoglu Metalurji AS and Leon Topalian, president and CEO of Nucor Company, have been elected as vice-chairs.
Along with his function as chairman, Narendran has been appointed to the 17-member govt committee alongside different outstanding business leaders equivalent to Jindal, ArcelorMittal govt chairman LN Mittal, Topalian, and Dalbeler.
