MUMBAI:In a stampede incident early this morning at Bandra Terminus, 9 passengers have been injured following overcrowding on Platform No. 1.
The stampede occurred round 2:55 a.m. as passengers waited for Practice No. 22921, Bandra-Gorakhpur Specific, which was scheduled to depart at 5:10 a.m.
As per replace supplied by BMC’s Catastrophe Administration Cell, the Medical Officer on the hospital, confirmed that 9 injured passengers have been admitted. Amongst them, two have been reported to be in vital situation, whereas the remaining seven are secure.
The injured passengers are as follows: Shabbir Abdul Rehman, a 40-year-old male, is secure; Parmeshwar Sukhdar Gupta, a 28-year-old male, is secure; Ravindra Harihar Chuma, a 30-year-old male, is secure; Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati, a 29-year-old male, is secure; Sanjay Tilakram Kangay, a 27-year-old male, is secure; Divyanshu Yogendra Yadav, an 18-year-old male, is secure; Mohammad Shareef Shaikh, a 25-year-old male, is secure; Indrajith Sahani, a 19-year-old male, is in vital situation; and Noor Mohammad Shaikh, an 18-year-old male, can be in vital situation.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the stampede. Additional updates are anticipated because the scenario develops.
Sources mentioned that the practice runs with basic class coaches. When the practice was coming into the platform, passengers tried to enter the coaches when it was in movement.
