Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned Thursday (October 17, 2024) that the killing of Hamas chief Yahya Sinwar within the Gaza Strip was the “starting of the top” of the year-long conflict within the Palestinian territory.
Mr. Netanyahu, who vowed to crush Hamas at first of the conflict, hailed Sinwar’s killing, saying: “Whereas this isn’t the top of the conflict in Gaza, it’s the start of the top.”
The Israeli navy mentioned that after a prolonged hunt, troops had on Wednesday (October 16, 2024) “eradicated Yahya Sinwar, the chief of the Hamas terrorist organisation, in an operation within the southern Gaza Strip”.
