NEW DELHI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday questioned Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren of giving Fridays off in faculties, a choice reversed by the JMM authorities in 2022.
“I need to ask Hemant Soren, in the event you shut faculties on Fridays for them, then why not shut faculties on Tuesdays for our kids to hope to Lord Hanuman?” Sarma mentioned at a ballot rally in Dumka, Jharkhand.
In 2020, 43 state-run faculties in Jamtara district, a minority dominated space, had switched their weekly vacation from Sunday to Friday, a transfer which was later dismissed to reinstate Sunday because the official day without work.
Earlier this 12 months, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had used comparable rhetoric of attacking the opposition on communal grounds additionally accused the JMM authorities of adjusting weekly offs from Sunday to Friday in an effort to “struggle” with the Christians.

“The committees have been dissolved after investigations carried out on my own and block schooling officers revealed that some faculties within the minority community-dominated pockets of Jamtara district had switched to Friday as their weekly off for over two years now,” Jamtara district schooling officer (DEO) Abhay Shankar had mentioned.
