‘Believe India is going to be lowering tariffs considerably’: Trump

NEW DELHI: US President Donald Trump indicated on Wednesday that he anticipates India will seemingly scale back its tariffs on American items.
In an interview with Brietbart, Trump mentioned, “Believe India is probably going to ne lowering those tariffs substantially. But on April 2, we will be charging them the same tariffs they charge us.
Earlier, Trump had declared the retaliatory tariffs would kick in from April 2 against nations charging higher duties on American imports.
This comes days after Trump claimed that India has agreed to cut down tariffs adding that “anyone is lastly exposing them for what they’ve achieved.”
“India costs us large tariffs. Massive. You cannot even promote something in India…They have agreed, by the way in which; they need to minimize their tariffs approach down now as a result of anyone is lastly exposing them for what they’ve achieved,” he had said.
Previously referring to India as a “tariff king” and “massive abuser”, Trump mentioned commerce boundaries throughout a latest White House press convention with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing difficulties in promoting to India.
Trump talked about the almost $100 billion commerce deficit with India, saying negotiations to handle long-standing buying and selling disparities.
