Former India spinner Dilip Doshi passes away

Former India cricketer Dilip Doshi handed away on the age of 77 resulting from cardiac arrest in London on Monday. Doshi, a left-arm spinner with classical motion, represented India in 33 Tests and 15 ODIs from 1979 to 1983. He picked up 114 wickets in Tests and 22 scalps within the limited-overs format.

Doshi made his worldwide debut throughout the first Test of Australia’s tour of India (1979) in Chennai. He registered figures of six for 103 within the first innings (eight for 167 total) within the fixture. Doshi is certainly one of solely 9 Indian males to say a five-for on Test debut.

He performed First Class cricket for Saurashtra and Bengal in India. He represented Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire in County Cricket. He took 898 wickets in First Class cricket. “The BCCI mourns the sad demise of former India spinner, Dilip Doshi, who has unfortunately passed away in London. May his soul rest in peace,” the Board of Control for Cricket in India posted on X.
