Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president Jagan Mohan Rao was arrested by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Hyderabad on Wednesday (July 9, 2025).
This growth follows the submission of the Vigilance and Enforcement Wing’s report back to the State authorities relating to alleged irregularities associated to ticket allocation and governance throughout the HCA through the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
A preliminary report reportedly validated critical allegations levelled by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) towards the HCA, which included intimidation, coercion and blackmail over complimentary tickets and company containers.
The franchise alleged that Rao locked a company field hours earlier than SRH’s match towards Lucknow Super Giants on March 27 on the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium and demanded 20 extra complimentary tickets. It claimed that Rao’s actions violated the tri-party settlement with SRH, HCA, and BCCI, which allocates 3,900 complimentary tickets (10% of stadium capability) to the affiliation.
