Pakistan to review security threats before sending hockey team to India for Asia Cup and World Cup

Pakistan is ready to review the security scenario in India before deciding whether or not to ship its nationwide hockey team for the upcoming Asia Cup and Junior World Cup later this 12 months.

A high authorities official has stated that the nationwide team won’t be despatched to India if there are security threats to them.

Rana Mashood, who’s the chairman of Prime Minister’s Youth Development and Sports Program, stated that Pakistan would journey to India for the tournaments if the federal government was completely happy with the security scenario.

“The government will review the security situation in India for Pakistani nationals and if it is not satisfied it will not put any of our players at risk by sending them to play in India,” Mashood, a former minister stated.

He identified that after India’s Operation Sindoor, the scenario shouldn’t be protected for Pakistani nationals to journey to India.

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has sought recommendation and permission from involved ministries to ship nationwide groups for the 2 main hockey occasions scheduled in India with subsequent month’s Asia Cup additionally serving as a qualifier for the following World Cup in 2026.

Rana Mujahid, the secretary-general of PHF, admitted that previously Pakistan had taken half in some worldwide occasions in India.
