Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday (July 12, 2025) rejected the concept of a nuclear trade in the course of the latest battle with India, saying his nation’s nuclear programme was for “peaceful activities and self-defence”.
Mr. Sharif made the feedback whereas addressing a bunch of Pakistani college students in Islamabad.

Recalling the four-day navy confrontation, Mr. Sharif mentioned 55 Pakistanis have been killed in the course of the Indian navy strikes. However, he emphasised that “Pakistan responded with full might.”
When requested about the potential of utilizing nuclear weapons, Mr. Sharif replied, “Pakistan’s nuclear programme is solely for peaceable functions and nationwide defence, not for aggression.” India launched Operation Sindoor targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 civilians.
