The Karnataka authorities on Friday (September 12, 2025) issued draft rules to additional amend the Karnataka Cinema (Control) Rules, 2014 and fix ticket value in all theatres in the State, together with multiplexes, at ₹200, unique of all taxes.
However, multi-screen cinemas with premium services of 75 seats or much less are exempted from the utmost ticket value restrict of ₹200.
The change follows a draft notification issued on July 15, 2025, amending the Karnataka Cinemas (Control) Rules, 2014. Subsequently, the federal government had sought suggestions from stakeholders inside 15 days at the workplace of the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Home Department.
The new rules will probably be referred to as the Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) (Amendment) Rules, 2025.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 19 of the Karnataka Cinema (Control) Act, 1964 (Karnataka Act No. 23 of 1964), the Government of Karnataka has made the draft rules to further amend the Karnataka Cinema (Control) Rules, 2014, as required by sub-section (1) of the said section: 15.07.2025,” learn the federal government notification issued on Friday.
According to the notification, Karnataka Cinemas (Regulation) (Amendment) Rules, 2025 will come into drive from the date of their remaining publication in the Official Gazette.
