Japan flight collision: Korean Air, Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific aircrafts clip wings on airport runway in Hokkaido

Two plane belonging to Korean Air Strains and Cathay Pacific Airways clipped wings at New Chitose Airport on Japan’s northern island of Hokkaido on Tuesday amid wintry circumstances, a Korean Air official mentioned.

No accidents have been reported on both airplane, Japanese media mentioned.

The Korean Air flight had 289 passengers and crew members on board, an airline official mentioned.

Japanese media studies had conflicting data on whether or not passengers have been on board the Cathay Pacific plane. Cathay Pacific Airways couldn’t instantly be reached for remark.

The incident occurred when a towing automobile, which was pushing the Korean Air airplane backwards forward of departure, slipped resulting from snow on the bottom, main the aeroplane’s left wing to clip the Cathay Pacific airplane’s proper tail wing, the Korean Air official mentioned.

Korean Air Strains’ preliminary evaluation attributed the trigger to a ground-handler that was towing the aeroplane in heavy snow, the airline official mentioned.

An airport spokesperson was not instantly out there for remark.
