Pest Management: Godrej Agrovet in-licences superior pest management molecule for chilli from Nissan Chemical Company



HYDERABAD: Godrej Agrovet Restricted (GAVL) on Tuesday stated it has in-licenced a sophisticated pest management molecule from Japanese large Nissan Chemical Company that’s initially being focused at chilli crops.
GAVL managing director Balram Singh Yadav stated the product, Rashinban, was being rolled out globally for the primary time in India is a serious departure from the previous when it used to take 5-10 years for a crop safety product to succeed in India after its international launch.
He stated the product has initially been launched for chilli and the corporate was conducting trials to get approvals for different crops equivalent to tomato and all greens crops.
The product, which targets three pests, thrips, mites and caterpillars, throughout the flowering stage, has been permitted for chilli in India, which accounts for 36% (Rs 10,400 crore) of the worldwide chilli manufacturing, Burjis Godrej, govt director & COO, crop safety enterprise, GAVL stated.
GAVL crop safety enterprise CEO Rajavelu NK stated whereas the full pesticide marketplace for chilli in India is estimated at Rs 5,000 crore, the addressable marketplace for Rashinban is within the area of Rs 1,200-1,500 crore of which GAVL is eyeing a ten% share over the following three to 4 years.
Presently, 80% of chilli crops in India get broken within the preliminary phases on account of pests equivalent to thrips, leps, hoppers and mites and farmers must resort to spraying a number of merchandise to remove them, GAVL stated.
