Journalistically, there’s a rigidity on these journeys: we’re near the prime minister and his crew all through. That is helpful, in understanding what they’re doing and what motivates their choices. However instinctively reporters wish to be indifferent, impartial and disinterested, and being in what can really feel like a bubble feels odd in that context.
