Adani Power completes acquisition of Vidarbha Industries Power Ltd, aims for 30,670 MW capacity by 2030

Adani Power Ltd. (APL) has accomplished the acquisition and determination plan implementation of Vidarbha Industries Power Ltd. (VIPL) for INR 4,000 crore, in accordance with a launch issued by the corporate on Tuesday (July 8,. 2025) morning. VIPL operates a 2×300 MW coal-fired energy plant in Butibori, Nagpur district, Maharashtra.  

VIPL was below the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) below the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) Mumbai Bench permitted Adani Power’s decision plan on June 18, 2025. Subsequently, the plan was carried out on July 7, 2025.  

With this acquisition, APL’s working capacity has elevated to 18,150 MW, the group mentioned.

The firm is increasing its base load energy era portfolio by brownfield and greenfield initiatives. “APL is constructing six 1,600 MW Ultra-supercritical power plants (USCTPP) at Singrauli-Mahan in Madhya Pradesh, Raipur, Raigarh, and Korba in Chhattisgarh, and Kawai in Rajasthan. It is also building a 1,600 MW greenfield USCTPP at Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, APL is reviving construction of a 1,320 MW Supercritical power plant at Korba, which it acquired earlier,” the discharge additional learn.

It mentioned that by 2030, APL’s operational capacity will attain 30,670 MW, making it India’s largest personal base load energy era firm.
