Harvard University may lose the ability to enroll foreign students if it doesn’t adjust to the coverage modifications instructed by the Trump administration, US Department of Homeland Security stated on Wednesday.
Days after the federal government stripped the Ivy League college of federal funding and contracts price over 2 billion, the DHS also terminated grants totaling over $2.7 million over “illegal and violent activities.”

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem demanded data of the violent actions of foreign pupil visa holders by April 30 in a letter.
“And if Harvard cannot verify it is in full compliance with its reporting requirements, the university will lose the privilege of enrolling foreign students,” Noem stated in a press release.
“With a $53.2 billion endowment, Harvard can fund its own chaos — DHS won’t,” Noem stated, including an “anti-American, pro-Hamas ideology” existed at Harvard.

Trump, in his crackdown on instructional campuses, has threatened universities with federal funding cuts over pro-Palestinian campus protests in opposition to US ally Israel’s devastating navy assault on Gaza after a lethal October 2023 assault by Palestinian Hamas militants.
The Trump administration is also making an attempt to deport some foreign protesters and has revoked a whole bunch of visas throughout the nation.
The funding freeze adopted Harvard’s refusal final week to adjust to administration calls for for coverage modifications and common progress reviews.
University President Alan Garber stated in a press release: “No government — regardless of which party is in power — should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.”
