The incident happened in the Digholbali space, information company ANI reported.“Yesterday (August 12), at least 14 police personnel, including an Inspector-level officer, were injured after a mob attacked them. The locals detained a heavy vehicle and the driver. When a police team reached the spot to rescue the driver, some people engaged in an argument with the police team, and some of them started to attack the police personnel. Many more people came to the area and vandalised police vehicles and attacked police personnel. 14 police personnel were injured in the incident, and three police vehicles were damaged,” Akhilesh Singh, IGP (Law & Order) of Assam Police, was quoted as saying by the information company ANI.“Last night and today morning, I personally visited the spot. 10 persons’ names appeared in the FIR copy, and seven accused have been arrested so far. Further investigation is underway. The situation is now under control,” he added, as cited by ANI.(*14*)
