NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report in the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The actor was discovered hanging at his Bandra dwelling on June 14, 2020.
The Mumbai Police’s preliminary report had indicated that Rajput’s death was a case of suicide. Investigators had discovered no proof of compelled entry, and the preliminary findings advised that melancholy might have been a contributing issue. His physique was found hanging from the ceiling fan, however no suicide notice was recovered from the scene.
Later, Sushant’s household lodged an FIR in Patna towards Rhea Chakraborty and others, alleging abetment to suicide, theft, dishonest, and wrongful confinement. This led to a jurisdictional dispute between the Bihar Police and the Mumbai Police, because the latter had initially been dealing with the investigation.
Following the Bihar authorities’s advice, the central authorities accredited a CBI probe into the case. On August 19, 2020, the Supreme Court of India directed the CBI to take over the investigation, granting the central company full authority to conduct the inquiry.
