SRINAGAR: Tibetan religious chief the Dalai Lama arrived in Ladakh on Saturday for a month-long go to, receiving a heat welcome from a whole bunch of people who lined the streets to greet him.Addressing people, he mentioned people of the Himalayan area should uphold their sacred obligation to defend, maintain and promote the wealthy legacy of Buddhist teachings and knowledge that after thrived in Tibet.The Dalai Lama final visited Ladakh in 2023. His deliberate journey in July 2024 was cancelled due to a knee surgical procedure in the US.At Leh airport, senior officers, political representatives and non secular leaders had been current to obtain the Buddhist chief. Among these welcoming him had been Ladakh MP Haji Hanifa Jan, Ladakh DGP S D Singh Jamwal, and the chief govt councillor of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh, Tashi Gyalson.According to the UT authorities, 1000’s of devotees and well-wishers gathered alongside the route from the airport to Jivetsal Choglamsar. They had been in conventional apparel and carried ceremonial scarves, providing prayers and chanting in celebration of his arrival.Addressing people on the Jivetsal Photang, the Dalai Lama mentioned it will be important to nurture “a heart of compassion and kindness for the benefit of all sentient beings”.
