Kerala Blasters FC has introduced in David Catala as its new head coach.

The 44-year-old Spaniard, a former central defender with over 500 skilled appearances in Spain and Cyprus, has signed a one-year contract.

Catala’s teaching profession contains tenures at AEK Larnaca and Apollon Limassol within the Cypriot First Division, NK Istra 1961 within the Croatian First Football League and CE Sabadell within the Primera Federación (Spanish soccer league’s third tier).

“This is a club that deserves success and together we will chase it with everything we have. Kaloor’s energy and the stature of this great club demand nothing less than excellence,” stated Catala, who takes over from interim head coach T.G. Purushothaman.

“I trust his abilities to manage a group and keep the team together in tough moments,” stated KBFC Sporting Director Karolis Skinkys.
