Hollywood actor David Corenswet, who is about to don the crimson cape within the upcoming Superman movie, has revealed that he sought phrases of knowledge from former Superman actors Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin on learn how to play the half.
At the London premiere of the James Gunn movie, Corenswet advised Heart that he wrote letters to Cavill — who performed the superhero in DCEU movies similar to Man of Steel (2013) and Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021) — and Hoechlin — the CW Superman who appeard in sequence similar to Supergirl, The Flash and Superman & Lois — asking them for advice.

“I had the pleasure of exchanging letters with two previous Supermans, Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin. They were very encouraging, and we had a lovely exchange, and I’m excited to meet them one day. It’ll be great when we can all get in a room together,” he mentioned.
“Both of them, interestingly, sort of said in their own words, ‘I’m not gonna try to give you any tips.’ And I think that’s a very Superman thing — Superman’s not so much for giving advice or dictating how other people should be. They really just conveyed to me encouragement and a sense of, you know, have fun with it. Which I think is Superman’s way of doing it too,” added Corenswet.
Superman, set to take flight in theatres on July 11, options Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and Pruitt Taylor Vince as Pa Kent, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Anthony Carrigan as Matamorpho and Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, amongst others. The Hammer of Boravia and Ultraman too make appearances.
