Delhi court orders FIR against Arvind Kejriwal over alleged misuse of public funds | India News

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday directed town police to register an FIR against AAP National Convenor and former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, together with others, in a case associated to the alleged misuse of public funds. The court has set a deadline of March 18 for the police to submit a compliance report.
Fresh bother for Kejriwal
Kejriwal and different AAP leaders are in bother for allegedly misusing public funds to put in giant hoardings in Delhi’s Dwarka space in 2019. The grievance, initially filed in 2019, accuses Kejriwal, former AAP MLA Gulab Singh, and Dwarka Councillor Nitika Sharma of spending taxpayer cash on political ads within the type of giant billboards.
Case revived after preliminary dismissal
In September 2022, a metropolitan Justice of the Peace dismissed the grievance. However, the classes court later overturned the choice and instructed the Justice of the Peace to rethink the case.
Following this, Special Judge Vishal Gogne, in an order handed in January, noticed that the earlier dismissal had failed to find out whether or not the alleged offence was cognisable. This paved the way in which for the Justice of the Peace to direct the registration of an FIR below Section 156(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which empowers courts to order police investigations into cognisable offences.
