French police stated officers killed a man holding a knife in every hand after he “threw himself” at them in the northeastern Paris suburbs on Wednesday (February 26, 2025).
At round 7:00 am (0600 GMT), police approached “a man sitting at a bus stop with a knife in each hand” in the city of Dugny, Paris police informed AFP.
The man “threw himself at them, without saying a word”, they stated.
One of the officers used an “electroshock weapon” with out impact, they stated.
Another officer then “used their weapon”, wounding the man in the chest.
“CPR was administered until the firemen arrived. Despite the care provided, the man died,” the police stated.
Local police and the inspectorate answerable for investigating police misconduct, referred to as the IGPN, have each opened a probe.
In 2023, 36 folks died because of police motion, the IGPN says.
The incident comes after a 37-year-old Algerian-born man was arrested accused of finishing up a stabbing rampage in the japanese metropolis of Mulhouse on Saturday, killing a Portuguese man and wounding seven visitors and police officers.
The Mulhouse assault suspect is undocumented and had been required to go away French territory.
