An Israeli air strike on Sunday (March 24, 2025) killed a member of Hamas’s political bureau as he underwent therapy in hospital, a source in the Islamist motion mentioned, after Israel confirmed it focused “a key terrorist”.
“The Israeli army assassinated Hamas political bureau member Ismail Barhoum,” the Hamas source mentioned, requesting anonymity to talk extra freely.
“Warplanes bombed the operating room at Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, where Barhoum was receiving treatment after sustaining critical injuries in an air strike targeting his home in Khan Yunis at dawn last Tuesday (March 18, 2025).”

Barhoum is the fourth member of Hamas’s political bureau killed since final Tuesday (March 18, 2025) when Israel resumed air strikes in the territory after an deadlock over persevering with a ceasefire.
Israel’s Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed in a press release that Barhoum had been focused in the strike. The Israeli navy mentioned it hit the hospital with “precise munitions” following in depth intelligence-gathering.

Earlier Sunday (March 23, 2025), Hamas mentioned an Israeli air strike the day past close to Khan Yunis killed Salah al-Bardawil, a senior member of its political bureau.
Bardawil, 65, was killed alongside along with his spouse in a camp in al-Mawasi, the group mentioned.
The Israeli navy confirmed that it had focused Bardawil, saying that “as part of his role, (he) directed the strategic and military planning” of Hamas in Gaza.
His “elimination further degrades Hamas’ military and government capabilities”, it added.
