NEW DELHI: In a significant transfer to promote inclusivity and alternative in cricket, the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday introduced the formation of a devoted activity drive to support displaced Afghan women cricketers. The initiative, launched in partnership with the BCCI, ECB and Cricket Australia, goals to present holistic support to Afghan women athletes uprooted from their homeland due to political turmoil.
The ICC will set up a particular fund to supply direct monetary help, guaranteeing that these cricketers can proceed pursuing their careers. In addition, a strong high-performance programme will supply entry to elite teaching, world-class amenities, and personalised mentorship.

This initiative reflects our steadfast dedication to cricket’s global growth and its power to inspire unity, resilience, and hope.”

The ICC believes the initiative will protect the cricketing careers of Afghan women whereas reinforcing the game’s potential as a drive for unity and resilience.
The Board additionally authorized the ICC Group’s audited monetary statements for the 12 months ending 2024 and introduced key committee appointments.
Following the suggestions from the Chief Executives Committee, the Board confirmed the next appointments:
ICC Women’s Cricket Committee: Catherine Campbell (re-appointed), Avril Fahey and Pholetsi Moseki.
ICC Men’s Cricket Committee:Sourav Ganguly was re-appointed as Chair and Hamid Hassan, Desmond Haynes, Temba Bavuma, VVS Laxman (re-appointment) and Jonathan Trott have been appointed to the Committee.
