India’s retail inflation falls to 1.55%, Hits 8-Year Low: NSO Report

Retail inflation slipped to an eight-year low of 1.55% in July primarily due to subdued costs of meals objects, together with greens and cereals, in accordance to authorities knowledge launched on Tuesday (August 12, 2025).

The client value index (CPI) primarily based inflation was 2.1% in June and three.6% in July 2024.

“The significant decline in headline inflation and food inflation during the month of July 2025 is mainly attributed to favourable base effect and to decline in inflation of pulses and products, transport and communication, vegetables, cereal and products, education, egg and sugar and confectionery,” the National Statistics Office (NSO) stated.

The year-on-year meals inflation price in July was (-) 1.76%.
