Israel launched a wave of airstrikes throughout the Gaza Strip early Tuesday (March 18, 2025), saying it was putting dozens of Hamas targets in its heaviest assault in the territory since a ceasefire took impact in January. Palestinian officers reported at the very least 200 deaths.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu mentioned he ordered the strikes due to a scarcity of progress in talks to increase the ceasefire. “Israel will, from now on, act against Hamas with increasing military strength,” Netanyahu’s workplace mentioned.
Hamas accused Netanyahu of upending the ceasefire settlement and exposing the hostages ”to an unknown destiny.” In a press release, it referred to as on mediators to carry Israel “fully responsible for violating and overturning the agreement.” Many Palestinians mentioned that they had anticipated a return to battle when talks over the second part of the ceasefire didn’t start as scheduled in early February.
