NEW DELHI: The caste census report submitted to the Karnataka Cabinet has beneficial rising reservations for Backward Communities from the present 32% to 51%, authorities sources advised PTI on Saturday.
The advice relies on the findings of the socio-economic and academic survey, also called the caste census, which highlights that Backward Communities make up practically 70% of the state’s inhabitants.
The report additionally proposes extending this 51% reservation to academic establishments in Karnataka. It attracts comparisons with states like Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand, which presently present 69% and 77% reservations respectively, according to their backward class populations.
