Land reforms needed to make India a mfg hub: Industry body

NEW DELHI: India should undertake a complete and forward-looking competitiveness agenda, and undertake issue market reforms equivalent to land reforms, to assist realise the objective of rising as a world manufacturing and funding hub.“India has made remarkable progress in several areas of reform, but land remains a domain where foundational changes are overdue in terms of access, cost, and regulatory ease for businesses,” the CII has stated. The business foyer group stated a strong land reform technique will enhance manufacturing, enhance investor confidence, unlock rural growth , and drive inclusive development.It instructed the organising of a GST Council-like entity to allow consensus-based land reforms, as land governance within the nation lies largely inside state jurisdiction, and the cross-cutting nature of land coverage calls for shut cooperation between the Centre and states.
