VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh police arrested a 34-year-old girl who allegedly killed her 16-year-old daughter for her continued relationship with a man from a different caste, in Tirupati district.
DSP Betapudi Prasad stated the girl was in a relationship with a 20-year-old man for over three years. Despite resistance from their respective households, the couple married final 12 months. The girl’s mom filed a police criticism in opposition to the man, leading to his arrest beneath Pocso Act & imprisonment.

The girl, who had turn out to be pregnant, was compelled by the mom to bear an abortion. The man was launched on bail a month in the past. On April 4, the girl tried to name him over telephone. In a match of rage, the mom compelled her daughter onto her lap, pressed her nostril and mouth shut with her arms, inflicting her loss of life by asphyxiation. Within hours of the homicide, the mom cremated the physique alongside the banks of Swarnamukhi river.
The hasty cremation raised suspicion, and on April 9, the village income officer lodged a police criticism. As police probe started, the mom fled from her home. But on Friday she surrendered earlier than a village elder confessing that she acted out of a mixture of rage, worry, and social strain.
