Nepal’s ruling CPN-UML has blocked former president Bidya Devi Bhandari’s bid to re-enter lively politics, saying it will be inappropriate for a former head of state to have interaction in a partisan function.

During a gathering of the CPN-UML’s Central Committee, the party additionally endorsed the proposed statute modification – handed by the party’s Secretariat and Politburo – to take away the age restrict of 70 years and the two-term cap for management.

With this modification, 74-year-old Prime Minister and CPN-UML chairman Ok.P. Sharma Oli, who’s serving his second time period as party chairman, can proceed to serve the party in his place.
