No decision yet on buying missiles from BrahMos, says Indonesian Ministry

Indonesia has not yet made a decision on buying missiles from BrahMos Aerospace in India, a spokesperson on the nation’s Defence Ministry statedon Monday (March 10, 2025).

Multiple missile programs are being thought of by Indonesia, not simply these from BrahMos, spokesperson Frega Wenas stated after Indonesia’s Defence Minister met together with his counterpart from Vietnam, though he declined to call the opposite corporations.

BrahMos, an organization co-owned by the Indian and Russian governments, had stated in 2023 that it was in superior discussions with Jakarta on a deal value $200 million to $350 million.

“For now it is one of our considerations to review, but I cannot give an official statement when there’s no formal contract,” the spokesperson stated on Monday (March 10, 2025).

BrahMos didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.

Indonesia has been in protracted talks with BrahMos to obtain a shore-based model of its mid-range missiles and a model that may be mounted on warships.

Potential consumers in Southeast Asia in addition to West Asia have proven curiosity within the BrahMos missiles. The firm clinched its first overseas deal, with the Philippines, in 2022.
