A robust, shallow 6.3-magnitude earthquake shook the Colombian capital of Bogota early Saturday, in accordance with AFP reporters on the bottom and the United States Geological Survey.
The shallow quake struck at 9:08 native time close to town of Paratebueno in central Colombia, some 170 kilometers (105 miles) east of Bogota, the USGS mentioned.
Buildings shook, sirens blared across the capital and other people rushed out into the streets, whereas social media customers posted movies of swinging lights and furnishings, although the photographs couldn’t be instantly verified by AFP.
Scores of individuals gathered in parks and out of doors buildings of their pajamas, with mother and father making an attempt to calm frightened children and others in search of pets that had run away.
“This was very strong,” mentioned an aged woman in Bogota making an attempt to make her means down a number of flights of steps.
Central Colombia is in a zone of excessive seismic exercise. A 6.2 magnitude quake there in 1999, not removed from Ansermanuevo, claimed almost 1,200 lives.
