NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh minister Dinesh Pratap Singh staged a protest on Wednesday at a freeway in Raebareli to block Congress MP Rahul Gandhi‘s convoy, demanding an apology for alleged abusive remarks made towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s mother throughout Congress’ Vote Adhikar Yatra in Bihar.Singh and his supporters sat on dharna on the Kathwara freeway whereas Gandhi was touring to Harchandpur. BJP staff held placards with slogans “Rahul Go Back” and “Desh ki Maon se Maafi Maango.”The minister later claimed that Gandhi took an alternate route to attain his vacation spot due to worry of BJP staff.“Rahul Gandhi also has a mother. He should not give anyone the right to abuse someone else’s mother. He should have condemned those who used such words for a mother. He should have said that he does not support them, that he would punish them, remove them from the party, and express regret over their mistake,” Singh instructed reporters.Singh added that if the Congress chief had spoken towards the alleged abuse, folks would have thought-about it acceptable. “Instead, Rahul Gandhi seems to encourage them further, as if he wants more such abusive remarks to be made against mothers. This protest in Raebareli was against that,” he mentioned.The controversy stems from a viral video displaying a 25-year-old Darbhanga resident making expletive remarks at a small podium arrange by an area Congress chief in Bihar’s Darbhanga.
