SGPC arranges turbans for bare-headed Sikh deportees

AMRITSAR: Round two dozen Sikhs among the many 116 unlawful Indian immigrants deported from the US to Amritsar on Saturday had been bareheaded, with none turbans or patkas. The turban is among the articles of religion in Sikhism.
A Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) group, with assist from the airport workers, reportedly procured patkas for such deportees. Later, they organized a bus and langar for them.
Ample turbans could be stored on the airport Sunday when one other flight with deportees is predicted, an SGPC official mentioned, including the difficulty could be taken up with US authorities.
