Princess Isabella of Denmark has stoked a debate over royalty vs modernity in her new photograph, clicked on her 18th birthday and printed on the Danish royal household‘s web site. Flaunting her diamond tiara, a present from her grandmother Queen Margrethe, teamed with a satin orange off-shoulder ball robe, the princess will be seen fiddling along with her iPhone.
“This is bizarre…. Can’t decide if it’s pro or anti-modern phone addiction. Is this ‘the ultimate modern princess’ or a depressing indictment of modern culture?” one commented.
Some discovered it lovable, relatable that like a standard teen, she was busy along with her cell phone. “Love this official picture of Danish princess Isabella on her 18th birthday – when old world royalty meets today’s tech reality,” one wrote.

“I love this royal family so much, she is just like a normal teenager, got her iPhone in hand and having her parents take quick snap shots of her. Happy birthday,” one wrote.

The picture was taken by royal photographer Steen Evald. Posting the image on-line, the princess wrote: “Thank you so much to everyone who helped me celebrate my 18th birthday. “It has been very nice that so many individuals have spent their time, thought and energy to make my day so particular. This means quite a bit to me.”

Princess Isabella of Denmark is the second baby and the elder daughter of King Frederik X and Queen Mary. She is the fourth grandchild and oldest granddaughter of Queen Margrethe II and Prince Henrik. She was the primary lady born into the Danish royal household because the delivery of her nice aunt, Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, in 1946. Isabella is second within the line of succession to the Danish throne, after her older brother, Crown Prince Christian.
