'Very strange': BJP slams Rahul Gandhi over 'Constitution thousands of years old' remarks
Leader of oposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Party slammed Congress chief Rahul Gandhi for his “Constitution 1000 years old” remarks, and calling the remark “very strange,” he stated that his occasion should be left confused and speechless after listening to him.
While speaking to ANI, BJP chief Sudhanshu Trivedi stated that Rahul Gandhi is unaware of the information associated to the Constitution, and that is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared November 26 as Constitution Day to coach such “misguided youth.”
“Look, Rahul Gandhi ji, who is the eternally youthful leader of Indian politics and eternally restless, keeps sharing strange and bizarre kinds of “data.” I believe that even Congress party leaders must be left completely confused and speechless after hearing him,” Trivedi stated.

These remarks got here as Rahul Gandhi on Monday, throughout the Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan in Patna, stated that the Constitution is thousands of years previous. The Constitution was drafted on November 26, 1949 and applied on January 26, 1950.

“People say that the Constitution was drafted in 1947. However, I believe that this Constitution is thousands of years old, and it includes thoughts of Ambedkar ji, Pule ji, Gandhi ji, Nehru ji, Guru Nanak ji and Kabir. The Constitution contains the thoughts of those whom India respects,” Rahul Gandhi stated.

BJP chief Trivedi stated, “Now, he recently said in a statement that the Indian Constitution was not written only in 1947. Perhaps Rahul Gandhi is unaware that the Constitution of India was finalized on November 26, 1949. That is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared November 26 as Constitution Day. Perhaps Constitution Day was needed specifically to educate such misguided youth — and notably, the Congress party never welcomed Constitution Day and, in a way, opposed it. Now it becomes clear just how shallow and superficial their understanding of the Constitution is.”
“Secondly, he said that the Constitution is thousands of years old. I found this statement very strange. This is the same Congress party that never believed the nation itself was thousands of years old. These are the same people who used to say that the country was built by the Mughals or by the British. So, even if Rahul Gandhi said it out of ignorance, the fact that he said the Constitution — which was adopted on November 26, 1949 and came into effect on January 26, 1950 — is thousands of years old, is quite shocking,” he added.
He additionally claimed that the Congress used to say that India was constructed by the Mughals or by the British.
“Congress’s confusion — whether in its ideology or now in Rahul Gandhi’s statements — has become more evident than ever. And I also want to say that with Babasaheb Ambedkar’s birth anniversary approaching, and as we prepare to celebrate it for a fortnight, calling the Constitution ‘thousands of years old’ reflects both ignorance and disrespect towards Babasaheb Ambedkar,” Trivedi added.

Earlier, BJP nationwide spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill additionally mocked Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on PM Modi and the Constitution and stated, “By commenting on the Prime Minister, he makes a mockery of himself. If Rahul Gandhi’s autobiography is written today, its title will be ‘Failure to Launch’. On one hand, the Prime Minister has been the Chief Minister thrice. He is serving as the Prime Minister of the country for the third time and is famous all over the world. On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi, who does not know when the Constitution was written and implemented, today under his leadership, Congress has lost more than 55 elections and more than 400 Congress leaders have left the party…”
