Vodafone Idea is in exploratory talks with numerous satellite tv for pc communication suppliers, together with Starlink, the corporate stated on Wednesday (March 19, 2025), every week after the Indian telecom agency’s rivals signed offers with Elon Musk’s firm.

The cell operator made the disclosure after Indian inventory exchanges sought a clarification on its inventory transfer and a report by native monetary information web site Moneycontrol earlier within the day.

Shares of Vodafone Idea rose almost 5% on Wednesday (March 19, 2025).

“Our strategy is to provide services – whether fixed or mobile – in uncovered areas, where satellite makes perfect sense,” Vodafone Idea Chief Technology Officer Jagbir Singh informed Moneycontrol, as per the report.

“The other (strategy) is to provide fixed wireless broadband in rural areas and smaller towns, where it is expensive to roll out such services.”

Last week, Musk’s SpaceX signed offers with Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio to convey Starlink’s web companies to India.

As a part of the offers, the Indian operators will inventory Starlink’s gear of their retail shops, giving the U.S.-based satellite tv for pc communication agency a direct distribution level in hundreds of such shops throughout the nation.

The offers shall be conditional on Starlink acquiring Government approval to start operations within the nation.
