The Annapurna Studios, established by veteran actor-producer Akkineni Nageswara Rao and named after his spouse, marked its 50th year just lately.
The studio performed a key function in shifting the Telugu movie trade from Chennai (then Madras) to Hyderabad. Currently, Nagarjuna Akkineni, Amala Akkineni, Naga Chaitanya and Supriya Yarlagadda are spearheading the studio and movie faculty.

The film Secretary, produced by D Ramanaidu and starring Nageswara Rao and Vanisri, was the primary movie made at Annapurna Studios. Nageswara Rao was decided to solely work with producers who had been prepared to movie in Hyderabad.
Gradually, initiatives started to take form and Hyderabad quickly grew to become the hub for Telugu movie trade.
