
New Delhi: Northern Railway sportspersons delivered a strong performance at the Asian Games 2026, with 14 athletes representing India across multiple disciplines and contributing 11 medals to the country’s tally.
According to Northern Railway, its athletes won 10 gold medals and one bronze medal, while three other sportspersons also represented India in cycling and shooting.
The medal-winning performances came across wrestling, kabaddi, hockey, boxing and women’s cricket.
In wrestling, Aman won the gold medal in the 57 kg freestyle category.
In kabaddi, Pooja was part of the Indian women’s team that secured gold, while Ashu Malik represented the Indian men’s team that also finished with the gold medal.
Northern Railway athletes made a major contribution in hockey as well. Yashdeep Siwach was part of the Indian men’s hockey team that won gold. In the women’s hockey event, Neha, Ishika, Shilpi Dabas and Sakshi Rana were part of the Indian team that secured the gold medal.
In boxing, Priya won the bronze medal in the 60 kg category, adding another medal to India’s tally.
Northern Railway was also represented in women’s cricket by Renuka Thakur and Pratika Rawal, both of whom were part of the Indian team that won the gold medal.
The three remaining Northern Railway sportspersons who represented India were Jemsh Keithellakram and Vishavjeet Singh in cycling, and Anish in shooting.

Northern Railway said the performances were a matter of pride for both the organisation and the Northern Railway Sports Association (NRSA) and reflected its efforts to promote sports and support athletes within the railway system.
The organisation said the achievements would also serve as encouragement for young railway athletes and aspiring sportspersons.
The General Manager of Northern Railway, along with the President of NRSA and other senior officials, congratulated the sportspersons, coaches, support staff and officials for their performances and contribution to Indian sport.
