Money-for-query case: Lok Sabha Ethics Committee recommends expulsion of TMC MP Mahua Moitra
Nishikant Dubey, who had lodged the criticism in opposition to the Trinamool MP with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alleged that it was BSP chief Danish Ali who tried to attribute objectionable inquiries to the panel chairman by placing phrases in his mouth.
“The non-public questions which are being reported within the media had been really requested by Danish Ali. The Lok Sabha Ethics Committee on Thursday indicted Mahua Moitra within the ‘cash-for-query’ case for sharing her log-in credentials with businessman Darshan Hiranandani and advisable her expulsion from Lok Sabha.
In accordance with panel chairman Vinod Sonkar, six members of the committee supported the report, together with Congress MP Preneet Kaur, whereas 4 members opposed it.
The 5 opposition MPs on the panel submitted dissent notes in opposition to the adoption of a report by the Lok Sabha Ethics Committee recommending the expulsion of Mahua Moitra from the Home alleging that it was “misguided” and framed “purely for political causes.”
Of their dissent notes, the opposition members alleged that the inquiry course of is a “farce” and a “proverbial kangaroo courtroom”.
After storming out of the primary assembly of the panel, Mahua had, in a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alleged that she was requested humiliating private questions.
“I write to you in nice anguish right this moment to replace you on the unethical, sordid, and prejudiced behaviour meted out to me on the listening to of the Ethics Committee by the Chairman. I’ve been subjected to the proverbial “Vastraharan” by him within the presence of all members of the Committee,” the TMC MP had written within the letter.
‘Ethics panel report submitted to Speaker Birla’s workplace’
In the meantime, Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee chairman Vinod Sonkar has submitted the ‘cash-for-query’ allegation report back to the workplace of Speaker Om Birla, sources stated on Friday.
In accordance with sources, Birla is in Kota and is prone to return to the nationwide capital after Diwali (Nov 12), following which he’s anticipated to take motion on the report.
